2. General
Protecting your personal data matters to me. I only process personal data as far as necessary to operate this website, to answer your enquiries and to handle orders. Personal data is any information that relates to you or can be related to you, for example your name, email address, postal address or IP address.
3. Hosting and server log files
This website is operated by an external hosting provider in Germany (dogado GmbH). A data processing agreement is in place with the provider. When you visit the pages, the server automatically collects data and stores it in log files:
- the page or file requested
- date and time of access
- amount of data transferred and status code
- the page you came from (referrer)
- browser and operating system
- IP address
This processing is necessary to deliver the website, to ensure its security and to detect misuse (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The log files are deleted automatically after a short time.
4. Cookies
This website only uses technically necessary cookies. They contain no advertising or tracking identifiers:
- Session cookie (PHPSESSID): remembers your chosen language and protects forms (security question, abuse protection). It is deleted when you close your browser.
- cookie_ok: remembers that you have acknowledged the cookie notice (stored for one year).
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR and section 25(2) TDDDG (storage is necessary for the service you explicitly requested). You can delete or block cookies in your browser at any time; some functions of the site (for example language selection and forms) may then not be available.
5. Contact form and email
If you write to me using the contact form or by email, I process the information you provide (name, email address, optionally phone number, subject, message) and, to prevent abuse, your IP address and the time of your request in order to answer it. The message is delivered to me by email and stored in the website's database. If you wish, you will receive a copy by email.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual enquiries) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (answering general enquiries). The data is deleted once your enquiry has been dealt with and no statutory retention obligations apply, at the latest after two years.
6. Orders (purchase of artworks)
If you order a work, I process the information required to handle the order: name, email address, optionally phone number, delivery or billing address, the chosen shipping and payment method, and your message. The data is used to perform the purchase contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and passed on to the shipping company as far as necessary for delivery. If you pay via PayPal, the payment is processed by PayPal and PayPal's privacy policy applies.
Statutory commercial and tax retention obligations (up to ten years, Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR) remain unaffected.
7. Visitor statistics
To evaluate page views, an invisible counting pixel is loaded from a statistics script running on the webmaster's server (www.ralf-siedhoff.de, Germany) when a page is opened. The page visited, the referring page, the screen width, date/time and the IP address are processed. No user profiles are created and no data is passed on to third parties. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (interest in designing the website according to demand).
8. External links
This website contains links to external websites (for example galleries and organisers). When you click them you leave my website; the respective operators are responsible for data processing there. Fonts, scripts and images are not loaded from third-party providers.
9. Your rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20)
- objection to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR)
- withdrawal of consent given, with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR)
To exercise your rights, an email to Write an email is sufficient. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Alt-Moabit 59-61, 10555 Berlin, Germany (www.datenschutz-berlin.de).
10. Data security
This website uses encrypted transmission (TLS/HTTPS) where provided by the hosting provider. Passwords in the administration area are stored as hashes only. Complete security of data transmission on the internet cannot be guaranteed, however.
